GROUNDMAN - TELECOMMUNICATION DIVISION

JOB SUMMARYAs directed by the Foreman performs groundwork that is required to support crews involved with the installation, rearrangement, maintenance, operation, removal and inspection of outside overhead and underground telecommunication lines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Entry level position requires the ability to operate or willingness to learn to operate various types of heavy equipment as requested by the Foreman.
Clears, sets up, and prepares work sites for crews as directed by Foreman.
When directed, practices barricading on public highways and public right-of-ways to include the use of warning signs, devices and flagging procedures.
Ensures company safety policies and procedures are followed.
Must be Union eligible, must join Montana IBEW Local (under communication contract) prior to job offer.
Prefer Class A Commercial Driver's License, or ability to obtain.
Current Medical Exam card as well as First Aid/CPR Certification are needed.
Job may include travel throughout the state of Montana.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Current Class A CDL or willingness and ability to obtain.
Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness and ability to obtain.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Works well in a group setting, able to follow directions when given.
May need to respond under stressful or urgent situations.
Awareness of all Safety regulations for Line Companies; knowledge of all Utility, N.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Entry level position requires the ability to operate various types of heavy equipment as requested by the Foreman.
Willingness to learn equipment operation as part of job progression.
Clears, sets up, and prepares work sites for aerial crews as directed by Foreman.
When directed by Foreman, practices barricading on public highways and public right-of-ways to include the use of warning signs, devices and flagging procedures.
Maintains and properly uses all tools assigned to him/her to ensure all are in proper working order at all times.
May help to perform daily inspections on equipment including proper completion of forms.
Follows directions from Foreman.
Ensures company safety policies and procedures are followed.
Responsible for knowledge of all safety regulations including all Utility, N.

S.
C, DOT, and OSHA Safety Rules.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Wage is per Montana Communication Contract, IBEW Local 206, 532 or 768 Per the contract, applicants with a CDL will be paid higher hourly pay rate.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Background check, MVR and drug screen required.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
